In praise of...

Yellow!

After posting my Easter vignette I felt in need of some more yellow. It's sunny and cheering, goes well with most colours and I'm sure a little does you good.

Yellow doesn't feature a great deal in my decorating schemes but I do like it as an accent colour, in the right shade and dose.

Not a really bright modern yellow, more of a soft, subdued, vintagey yellow. Like on this teapot - one of my favourites.

Laura Ashley used to be an excellent source of yellow for decorating, not so much these days.

Beautiful and intricate ribbonwork.

I'm not about to start re-decorating in yellow, but on a wet and dreary day, what better than a spash of sunshine.

    Beautiful!! I love your wonderful collection of yellow. You are definately right about it being a color that can really cheer someone up. Next to pink, I think the softer shades of yellow are some of my favorites and I to have an ever growing collection of yellow pretties. I posted about some of my collection of yellow last year. Not sure exactly when, but if you check my archives, you should be able to find it. Now after seeing yours, it's given me the itch to go treasure hunting again so I can add more!!

    Hi Lucy, actually that shade of yellow is gorgeous and a perfect pick me up for a dreary day!!
    Yellow and orange are not my most favourite colours but I find little bits are sneaking in on pieces I love.....great now I have soft yellow things to look for as I really like your colours there!

    I am gradually getting more yellow into the house, and I lean more towards it in Spring. I love your yellow pictures - very pretty and inspiring.

    I love yellow for a nice background for other colors that have more pop. It is very soothing, and so many colors look their best next to the perfect shade of yellow. I enjoyed seeing all your sweet treasures.

    Stunning photos. Yellow is a colour I am never really drawn to, I think it's because it doesn't suit me for clothes. But after looking at all your beautiful yellow things I am beginning to change my mind.

    Very sweet yellow. I, too, have a few yellow pieces. They really seem to add a bit of a lift.

    I've always liked yellow (had bright yellow coat when I was about 14...thought I was the bee's knees!) but it's not been so popular, as you say...shame really, such a sunny colour.

    Hi Lucy, what a beautiful celebration of the colour yellow!
    I am a big fan of Yellow and always feel it is much underated by many people. It is the sunshine colour and always makes me happy. It is refreshing to see so many yellow clothes in the shops at the moment, so maybe more people will enjoy it.
