Time to show you some goodies I thrifted recently. These were all found on the same day, in a couple of charity shops. That's unusual for me, thrifting around here is usually quite rubbish, the thrift fairy must have waved her wand and sprinkled some thrift-dust on me that day.
No item here was more than 50p - glass candlesticks, embroidered linens, pretty saucers, a souvenir jug, a book of verse and a cameo style brooch.
The little jug is Victorian I think and says "Present from Redcar". I love this type of souvenir china, I like to imagine who might have bought this, what sort of day out they had and whether the recipient was pleased with their gift.
The brooch is pretty too, it has some tiny moulded roses inside. I think I might make a cushion specially to pin it to.
And hand-embroidered mats are always a pleasure to find, especially red and pink roses.
These aren't the most fantastic finds, not particularly unusual, but considering I usually come away empty-handed, not a bad little haul.
Thank you Thrift Fairy, I do appreciate your efforts,
Wow Lucy, you did very well indeed, such pretty things and what bargains. The Thrift Fairy was definitely smiling on you, I'll have to ask for help next time I go thrift shopping! Jackie Mx
ReplyDeleteThe thrift fairy was certainly looking down on you! I love a successful day thrifting but am finding more and more British charity shops are becoming too expensive which is such a shame.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been thrifting for some time... i think thats a "job" for the weekend
Best Wishes
Victoria
Hi Lucy. What great finds! All the things look beautiful. I especially like the china and that souvenir mug is a great find. I guess the thrift fairy must have sprinkled some extra fairy dust on you that day. Now what are yougoing to do with your new goodies? Rhondi
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of that little thrift fairy to oblige. I must admit it is unusual to come out with a bag full of finds, although I often come home with one piece that I am thrilled with, for very little outlay. It is nice to know that these discarded treasures are being given a new lease of life. What a good idea to use that brooch to adorn a cushion, I would never that thought of that, I hope to see the finished article. x
ReplyDeleteShe was smiling on you too - hurah! It's fab when you come away with a pile of beautiful things for hardly anything at all isn't it. And I love that things obviously treasured or laboured over by other people find a new home and are loved all over again. The verr best type of recycling I think. What a pretty brooch and I especially love the candlesticks. Lucky old you.

Lucy, you definitely have the eye for Victorian "pretties." Thanks for sharing them with us. Could you send that Thrift Fairy my way? Maybe she also spots Oklahoma antiques.
ReplyDeleteI need the "thrift fairy" to sprinkle some thrift dust my way...lol!
ReplyDeleteI'm always envious of all the thrift finds of all my online pals and think to myself, why can't I find such items??
You made a very good haul!
Wonderful thrify finds! That would be a banner day to find those sweeties around here, too! Great picks...

Hi Lucy, such gorgeous finds, well done. The thrift fairy was looking after you very well today :) Beautful! Jenn and Jacqui
ReplyDeleteSome nice finds there, you were lucky. I never seem to be that lucky with charity shops. I like souvenir china too, that's a really pretty jug.
ReplyDeletePlease could you tell the thrift fairy to wing her way over here. I've been missing her lately, I think she's been spreading herself a bit too thinly, maybe she needs to get some more of that dust! Lovely finds Lucy, they are so pretty

Oooo I just love that brooch! I think I may have to post about vintage jewelry soon. It's sooo romantic. Blessings... Polly
ReplyDeleteWonderful finds - the thrift fairy really did smile on you!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds and so cheap! The charity shops in my town are overpriced so even if I'm lucky enough to spot something often the price is way too high. I'll wait for the car boot sales to start again in the spring, not long now!
